I Took Hacks In The Sox Batting Cages Yesterday and Hit A Ball To The Moon

Still got it!  And by still got it I mean I took about 20 swings yesterday and can’t move a muscle today I’m so goddamn sore from taking a few simple hacks during the White Sox rain delay yesterday.  Special shout out to the 34/34 Avisail Garcia bat I was hacking away with.

Anyways let’s break it down piece by piece:

Feet/balance:

Actually kinda proud of my lower half and balance here.  I figured after not doing anything remotely athletic for 10 years that I’d have zero coordination and be falling all over the place.  I mean it’s a proven fact I can’t chew gum and walk at the same time:

Just like riding a bike though.  I think I had about a 90MPH exit velocity on like 2 of the balls I made contact with.

Hands:

Sloppy as hell here.  Got long as fuck.  If I had been facing a normal fastball I’d have gotten eaten alive on the inner half.  Roll over grounder after roll over grounder.  Gotta clean that up.  Carl told me my hands couldn’t have been slower.  Truly embarrassed.

Swing path:

It was like I was chopping wood.  Absolutely detestable.  Just beating the ball into the ground.  How can you hit a dinger if you’re hitting nothing but ground balls?  Answer: you can’t.

Final grade: C

I love me a good C.  Right in the meaty part of the curve.  Not showing off, but not falling behind.  I do think

Real talk though: we have some awesome video content coming out later this week and early next week.  The interviews we got with Rick Hahn and a few White Sox players are undoubtedly the best interviews we’ve ever conducted for Red Line Radio.  Hahn told Carl and I that it’s been cool watching us grow over the years and turn our fandoms into legit careers.  It seriously almost made Carl and I break down into tears.

All in all, it was an A+ business trip.  Today we’re off to ASU to work out with the team.  Full video (s) coming out later this week.    All gas, no motherfucking brakes!
